Hudson Bay has a large heritage site with multiple old buildings and old machinery along with a large statue of a moose, which coincidentally you are not allowed to shoot in Manitoba.
The weather pattern has continued for another day. Sunny morning with showers coming in quickly. This afternoon has been quite chilly due to the wind accompanying the rain and everything feeling so damp. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
It was a shorter travel day for us but one that took us through new country, some provincial forest land and some big grain farms where you can see across huge fields. I thought it was a very pretty area. Again it was raining so no photos of this area.
Once we turned north along Hwy 23, we came to Arborfield, another small rural community. We stopped at the local Co-op store which had a very friendly clerk who we chatted with for a few minutes. She asked if we were going to stay at the Pasquia Regional Park (good salesmanship!) Pasquia Regional Park was on our list of stops and it is a beautiful place, worthy of stopping for a day or two. There is a pool and mini-golf, golf course and of course, campsites. Some campsites are seasonal, but many are open for travellers. We took a few photos but as it was raining today while there it was hard to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
After Pasquia park we got to the community of Carrot River. There we heard that talks are beginning between the provinces to do more work on the road west of The Pas that then comes into the Carrot River/Nipawin (Hwy 55) which is the official Northern Woods & Water Route. This is good news! We will have to find out more information about this as far as when they expect work to be completed and the level of upgrades that are planned.
Next we carried on to Nipawin, one of the larger communities here in Northeastern Sask. There is another great Regional Park here with lots of amenities, including a big boat launch area for fishermen to be able to reach Tobin Lake. You may even see houseboats dock here as well. This is a great place for us to spend the weekend. There is a swinging bridge in the park.
