Another sunny morning that quickly turned to rain. Driving around The Pas we noticed their beautiful brick museum building. This would be worth a stop as this area (as are all) is full of interesting history.
We drove out from The Pas to the Clearwater Provincial Park. This is a big park area around one of four true blue lakes in the world. Due to the cloudy skies, the true color of the lake did not reveal itself to us. We went out to the large beach area and also to one of the resorts in the area, Evergreen Lodge. They have cabins and boats for rental. I would have loved to spent more time at this lake, taking a boat out when the sun shone would have been wonderful.
Headed back down the highway this year as we needed to check out the new alternate route going west from just north of Mafeking to Hudson Bay, SK. We were told that this is a paved alternate route but we discovered that there is one section of gravel about 10-15 km long. The paved sections were also in need of repair. This road does have more forestry truck traffic now due to the road between the Pas and Carrot River needing repair.
We reached Hudson Bay and camped in the Regional Park located there. There is a beautiful nine hole golf course 1 mile from the park. It is a very nice park with power sites, although in the area that we parked in the sites were not all specifically designated by gravel pads.
