Well, this was a busy day!! Woke up to more rain… thankfully just a shower now but the land around here is getting or already is soaked. We have lots of contacts to make, lots of miles (or kms) to travel today, but also plans to meet friends in Swan River. Thankfully the rain held back for awhile and the lunch hour was nice and sunny.
We started up Hwy 10 again with plans to make it to The Pas. Stopped in another small community, Birch River, and then a little bit further up the highway the Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation has a gas station along the highway.
Soon after, we pulled off the highway into a pretty, little, wayside campground. My husband had stopped here last year when he travelled along the highway and he wanted to show me the campground and how you can get a view of Lake Winnipegosis from here too. As mentioned above, the land is saturated with water. That combined with just the right distance between potholes in the driveway of this little spot made for a big delay! Thankfully, we have roadside assistance and I certainly recommend that people do not leave home without it. It was an adventure to be sure. If there had not been so much rain this wouldn’t have been a problem.
After getting back on the road again, we finally made it to The Pas. The highway runs parallel to the shore of Lake Winnipegosis for a little while and then you have quite a section of marsh land. It is interesting terrain, certainly nothing like it around where I live.
